1. Overview
HypeBeam is an independent analytics service currently in development. It is designed to identify and evaluate emerging topics, memes, games, events and other hypes appearing across YouTube creators.
This Privacy Policy explains what information HypeBeam processes, why it is processed, and how HypeBeam uses YouTube API Services. The initial public HypeBeam website has no user accounts, no Google login and no advertising or analytics cookies installed by HypeBeam.
2. Information from visitors to this website
HypeBeam does not currently require registration and does not ask website visitors to provide personal information in order to browse the public website.
HypeBeam does not intentionally set analytics or advertising cookies on this initial website. The site is hosted and secured using Cloudflare infrastructure. As with normal web hosting and security services, Cloudflare may process technical request information such as IP addresses, request headers and security-related data as needed to deliver, protect and operate the website. Cloudflare's own privacy terms apply to its processing.
If you contact HypeBeam by email, HypeBeam will receive the email address and any information you choose to include in your message. That information is used to respond to your request and maintain necessary business correspondence.
3. Use of YouTube API Services
HypeBeam uses YouTube API Services, including the YouTube Data API, to analyze publicly available YouTube information for the purpose of detecting and measuring emerging hypes.
Depending on the analysis being performed, HypeBeam may access and process public API data including:
- video and channel identifiers;
- video titles and publication timestamps;
- channel identifiers and other publicly available channel metadata;
- public search-result metadata;
- publicly available video or channel statistics returned by the YouTube Data API; and
- relationships needed to group relevant public videos into analytical topics or hypes.
HypeBeam uses this information to discover activity that is appearing across multiple independent creators, group related videos into emerging hypes, expand confirmed hypes to additional relevant public videos, and calculate independent analytical metrics.
4. HypeBeam derived metrics
HypeBeam may calculate its own analytical metrics from permitted data, including estimates of hype reach, creator breadth, strength, velocity and momentum. These are generated independently by HypeBeam and are not metrics supplied directly by YouTube.
5. Data refresh, retention and deletion
For actively monitored videos or channels, publicly available statistics may be refreshed multiple times per day when needed to measure changes in activity and momentum.
YouTube API data is refreshed, retained or deleted in accordance with the YouTube API Services Developer Policies and any additional data-storage permissions granted to HypeBeam by YouTube. Where the applicable policies require particular API data to be refreshed or deleted within a specified period, HypeBeam follows those requirements.
If YouTube approves HypeBeam for additional policies concerning derived metrics and storage of public statistical data, HypeBeam may retain eligible public statistics and eligible derived metrics for the period allowed by that approval. Such approval does not change the retention requirements for other API data.
6. No Google OAuth or private YouTube data
HypeBeam does not currently ask users to sign in with Google, does not use Google OAuth to access a user's YouTube account, does not collect YouTube account credentials, and does not request private YouTube data. Because HypeBeam does not currently obtain Google account authorization from website users, there is no HypeBeam Google authorization token for a visitor to revoke.
7. Google and YouTube privacy information
HypeBeam's use of information received from YouTube API Services is subject to the applicable YouTube API Services Terms of Service and Developer Policies. You can review the Google Privacy Policy and the YouTube Terms of Service.
8. Sharing and sale of information
HypeBeam does not sell YouTube API data or website visitor personal information. Information may be processed by infrastructure or service providers when necessary to host, secure and operate HypeBeam, or disclosed when required by law.
9. Security
HypeBeam uses reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the current service, including HTTPS for the public website and controls intended to protect API credentials and stored data from unauthorized access.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as HypeBeam develops, particularly if user accounts, additional data sources, analytics, cookies, authentication or new public features are introduced. The date at the top of this page will indicate the latest revision.
